Dreamscapes is a project I worked on using a technique called ICM (intentional camera movement). I was inspired by the diverse and stunning sunsets you get on New Zealand’s west coast, Raglan to be more exact.  I wanted to capture these amazing colours and scenes in a more abstract way. It was the work of the great William Turner and the way he blended colours in some of his seascapes, often quite vibrantly, that gave me the idea. By moving the camera in a certain way I was able to blend and merge the vibrant colours as the sun set, creating a dream-like seascape.

All the images in the collection are captured ‘in camera’ with a single exposure. No blending of images or effects added in Photoshop. In fact only a slight adjustment was made post-capture in the processing of the RAW image on conversion to a Tiff.

I selected Hahnemühle Bamboo to print this collection on as it’s the world’s first digital, fine art, inkjet paper made from bamboo fibres. Bamboo represents spirituality, naturalness and resource-saving paper production. Particularly suitable for warm-toned colour prints, Bamboo really highlights the sensuality of the images.

The whole collection is available in either the original format seen here or in a square format. I decided to do this as I really liked both and couldn’t decide which I preferred. Whichever you decide there will only be 25 prints in total of each image, irrelevant of the format.
