Wildlife

Open Edition - A fernbird (Bowdleria punctata) stretches its legs and holds onto the dead grass steams as it climbs out of the vegetation. This image took three days to capture. I had to return to the same area each day hoping to get the image I had envisaged. It can often be painstaking when you’re determined to get a specific image. When it did finally get into the position I wanted I had just a couple of seconds to take the shot. Preparation is the key and this time it paid off. Printed on Museo Silver Rag 300gsm. This image got me through to be a finalist in the ANZANG Nature Photographer of the Year 2016.

Natures Wonders

Limited Edition of 25. Beams of light radiate across the sky. Appearing to originate from the ocean itself, the rays spread out and catch the stormy looking clouds looming overhead. Several white clouds become illuminated by the rays of light as they try to escape the foreboding darkness that approaches. Printed on Hahnemühle PhotoRag 308gsm.

Landscapes

Open Edition - Looking up the coast from the Top of Mt Karioi. Printed on Museo Silver Rag 300gsm.

The Dreamscapes Collection

Dreamscapes Square Format

Limited Edition of 25. As the sun sets into the Tasman Sea I used a panning motion to capture the amazing hues at sunset, while at the same time adding a small up and down motion to the camera. By incorporating the right shutter speed I was able to get this dreamlike effect, giving the appearance that the ocean is on fire. Printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo. This image was a finalist in the ANZANG Nature Photographer of the Year 2015.

Dreamscapes Original Format

Limited Edition of 25. This effect was created using a slow panning motion. Doing this enabled some detail of the features in the scene to keep enough of their form to be recognisable. At the same time the diffused colours, from the camera movement, added a veil of colour fusing everything together. Printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo.

Limited Edition Prints

These prints are limited in number, anywhere from 5 to 125. The number of the edition is printed in the bottom right-hand corner of the print, in the margin. The number printed on a particular print viewed on this site is unlikely to be the one you receive. It’s there for you to see the layout of the prints.  Although the number of prints are limited, the image may be used in another form – for example, in a book publication.

Open Edition Prints

With an open edition print the print-run is not limited, so numbers will not be restricted and so these prints will cost less to purchase, although they are still printed to the highest quality.

Printing

Papers – All prints are printed on high quality Fine Art papers with exceptional light-fast qualities (archival grade). Fine art high quality papers look, feel and display different properties; for this reason I pick the paper that best suits the image and what I am trying to portray. For instance, a matte paper can completely change the mood of an image when compared to it being printed on a semi gloss paper, so paper choice is very important. Because the paper I choose to print on depends upon the individual image, an open edition print may well be printed on the same paper as a limited edition print. So whether you choose to purchase a limited or open edition print, you can rest assured it will be of the highest quality and will last a lifetime and more.

The paper each individual image is printed on can be found on the details page, along with the size and price. The following is a list of papers I use for my fine art prints: Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm, Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm (arguable two of the best papers on the market), Hahnemühle Bamboo 290 gsm (the world’s first digital fine art inkjet paper made from bamboo fibres), Ilford Galerie Smooth Cotton Rag 310gsm, Museo Silver Rag and Museo Portfolio Rag.

Printer

All my images are professionally printed in-house on a fine art quality printer with the best pigment inks, which will ensure your print outlasts both you and me by many decades, when displayed in the appropriate manner.
