I’ve put together this comprehensive page to give you as much information as possible to help you decide what package you want and to show that Trevor Penfold Photography is the right choice to capture wonderful images of your precious pet. All the packages are explained, as well as Question & Answer section at the end for all those other queries. I highly recommend checking them out first before contacting me, as they might just answer any questions you may have – but of course please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements or if you just can’t quite decide which option to go for.

One of the most important things I’ve learned from my work in wildlife photography is that you have to know your subject if you want to get consistently great images – and this is just as important when it comes to pet photography. That’s why the first thing I do is to get to know your pet. Some animals are shy and timid, while others are more bold and excitable. And putting your pet at ease is the first step towards capturing and creating wonderful images of them.

I’ve put together the following packages to suit all budgets: that doesn’t mean to say you love your pets any less by not going for the most expensive option, it’s just life and affordability. But rest assured that whatever package you decide on you will get a high quality, professional service and an enjoyable, fun experience for both you and your pet.

Consult – £30

It’s not always easy picking the right person for the job, so before you buy into any Pet Photo Package I offer a consultation first. A consult is a way for you and your pet to meet me at your home or a location of your choice so we can get to know each other. We can discuss what type of images you would like and where you would like them taken. It will also give me and your pet a chance to get acquainted and to see how we get on before a shoot.

The cost of a consult is £30.00 plus travel over the 30 mile radius from Fearnan (PH15 2PG). The good news is that the £30.00 is deducted from the price of any package you book. Which means it’s free if you decide to employ my services (though I’m afraid any travel costs are not refunded).

Premium Package – £125.00

  • Getting to know you and your pet: After the initial contact and phone conversation, with the Premium Package the time spent getting to know you and your pet is all done on the same day as the shoot, to help keep to budget. All animals are different and getting to know your pet does not encroach on the shooting time. Whether it takes 10 minutes or 45 minutes, shooting won’t begin until you and your pet are nice and relaxed and ready to start capturing those great images.
  • You’ll get up to an hour of shooting time, and if we need another 10 to 15 minutes it’s not a problem and there will be no extra charge. The important thing is we get the images we’re after.
  • As part of this package you get to choose 10 images in digital format: They are from the edited selection I put together from the shoot. All the images you get to choose from have made it through my quality control (which is to the highest standard), have been processed and are now ready to print.
  • 1 Fine Art print: You also get one image of your choice printed as a fine art print of A4 size (including border). The paper used will be either Hahnemühle or Museo, arguably the best Fine Art papers on the market, and printed with pigment inks – all producing a high quality print that will outlast you and me (as long as it’s stored or displayed correctly).
  • Payment: 50% deposit is required at time of booking, with the balance due before any images or prints are released.

Platinum Package – £190.00

In some instances you may want images of you with your pet as well, or you may have two pets you want photographing, in which case you may want more images or prints. Whatever the reason, sometimes you might just need more than the Premium Package can offer, so the Platinum Package might suit you better.

  • Getting to know you and your pet: After the initial contact and phone conversation, with the Platinum Package the time spent getting to know you and your pet is all done on the same day as the shoot, to help keep to budget. All animals are different and getting to know your pet does not encroach on the shooting time. Whether it takes 10 minutes or 45 minutes, shooting won’t begin until your pet and you are nice and relaxed and ready to start capturing those great images.
  • You’ll get up to 2 hours of shooting time, and if we need another 10 to 15 minutes it’s not a problem and there will be no extra charge. The important thing is we get the images we’re after.
  • As part of this package you get to choose 15 images in digital format: They are from the edited selection I put together from the shoot. All the images you get to choose from have made it through my quality control (which is to the highest standard), have been processed and are now ready to print.
  • 3 Fine Art prints: You also get three images of your choice printed as fine art prints of A4 size (including border).

Bespoke Package – From £225.00

Often we want something but it doesn’t fit into a nicely packaged box: and the same goes for photography, when your needs might not suit either the Premium or Platinum Packages. That’s where the Bespoke choice comes in. Whatever you’re after just let me know and I’ll put a unique package and price together for you. Here are just a few examples of where a Bespoke Package might be the best option.

  • You may want to share the photo shoot with a friend or group of friends all wanting their pets photographed together as well as individually. Pooling together for a bespoke package could end up costing less than the premium package, once it’s divided between you.
  • You may have multiple pets of your own where a much longer time frame would be needed to photograph them all.
  • You may want to shoot in more than one location – in your home as well as at your dog’s favourite exercise area or walk.
  • You’ve just got a new puppy and you want it photographed every few months for the first year. This too can be all arranged and pre-booked.
  • You may have decided on a bespoke package and then change your mind on what you want once the shoot has started. No problem – adapting to the situation is what photography is all about. This can be discussed on location and any changes or adjustments (including price changes) can be sorted out.
  • Payment: 50% deposit is required at time of booking, with the balance due before any images or prints are released.

Whatever your needs are contact me and let me solve all the problems and put the right package together for you, so you get images you can cherish forever.

Fine Art Prints

You can see the prices of the prints on the table above but if you deicide you want a lot more, especially if it’s a group of you on a Bespoke Package then discounts are available, contact me and we can discuss this.

Fine Art Photo Albums

This is something I’m looking into for those of you that would like an album put together to capture the whole experience of the day. When I’ve found a product I’m happy with, that won’t break the bank, I’ll list the prices and description here for you. So watch this space.

Questions and Answers

Q         Can I pick more images to add to my package than what is stated? If so how much does it cost?

A          Yes, no problem. You can add as many digital images as you wish to your package from the selection.

  • Each extra digital image costs £8.00
  • Quantity discounts also available.

Q         Can I order more Fine Art Prints to my package and/or at larger sizes?

A          Yes, you can have as many images printed as you wish at the following costs:

  • A4           £10.00 per print
  • A3           £20.00 per print
  • A3+        £25.00 per print
  • A2           £40.00 per print
  • Quantity discounts also available.

Q         How many images do I get to select from? Another photographer said I’ll have a choice of over 300 images with him.

A          There is no set amount of images per package to choose from. Having a choice of 300 images might sound good value and lots of photographers use this to encourage you to go with them. But most of the images they offer you will be well below par or all very similar. At Trevor Penfold Photography it’s about quality; a great image takes planning, creativity and technical ability. If someone is offering hundreds of images from an hour’s shoot for you to choose from, I would look elsewhere. I might well shoot hundreds of images in a session especially, when action shots are involved, but I’ll only pick out the very best as part of the selection for you to choose from.

I would have already quality checked all the images and only put forward the best of those for you to choose from. It also depends on the package and how much time is spent shooting. As a guide, in the Premium Package you may get anywhere between 25 to 50 images to choose from. I would presume you would rather pick from 30 high quality images rather than spend your time searching through 300 mediocre ones.

Q         How many pets can I have photographed per package?

A          As many as you like, but remember there is a time restriction and image limit (although that can be added to) for the packages, except the Bespoke Package. So for more than one pet I would suggest at least the Platinum Package to ensure enough shooting time with each animal.

Q         My friend wants to share a photo package with me as our dogs often play together, is that possible?

A          Of course, that’s no problem at all. Just remember what each package offers and ensure there is enough time to photograph both dogs together as well as individually, if that’s what you want. You can always select more images for the package, as per the price chart.

Q         Can the shoot be at more than one location?

A          Yes, although time may be an issue so think about your package choice. If you want images inside your home and in your garden, this would be classed as one location and would generally be fine for a Premium Package. If you want a shoot at your home as well as at another location, or possibly at two external locations, then the Bespoke option would probably work best.

Q         What if it’s raining?

A          I’m used to working in all sorts of weather but I appreciate it’s not for everyone. If the weather forecast the day before doesn’t look promising, we can reschedule to a mutually acceptable day – at no extra cost.

If it starts raining halfway through the shoot, then we will have to see what images we have already got and discuss our options. Depending on the location, if we still need to take more images we can schedule in another day, but there would be extra travel costs involved. The rest of the package price would remain the same.

Q         When is the best time of day to photograph my pet?

A           If it’s inside it doesn’t matter; but for outside photography early morning and late afternoon/early evening is best. The light is much better at this time of day and will add greatly to the quality of the images. But that said, woodland locations can often benefit with more light as they can often be darker anyway, but ultimately (bearing this in mind), whatever time suits you.

Q         I have a horse and would like to be photographed riding it. Can you do that?

A          Yes, absolutely. Although going with the Bespoke Package might be best, depending on the variety of images you would like. More time and planning are often needed with this type of shoot and your horse may need more rest stops in-between shots, and it could also be tiring for you. It’s better to book in more time and not use it than feel restricted due to lack of it.

Q         Can I be photographed with my pet?

A          Yes – some people like an image with their pet, others want just their pet, or both. It’s really up to you.

Q         Would you consider travelling?

A          Yes. My work in wildlife photography takes me all over the country and further afield. If it ties in with such a trip travel costs could be significantly reduced, so it might not be as expensive as you think. Contact me if you’re interested.

Q         How do I book up a photo shoot with you?

A          That’s easy. Just fill in the contact form with your details and I’ll phone you direct (normally within 48 hours, often much quicker, but I may be away on a shoot). That saves you the cost of a phone call and if we go ahead then I’ll have your details already.
